      William Jefferson Brown Steve and Christina Brown Jr. of Colmesneil announce the birth of their son, William Jefferson, born June 21 at 9:38 p.m. at Christus Jasper Memorial Hospital. He weighed 6 pounds 5 1/2 ounces and was 18 1/2 inches long.

Radio Shack burglars still on the loose
      Acar fire almost, but not quite, led to the arrest of the burglars who kicked in the front door of the Radio Shack in Buna and stole equipment. Sheriff's deputies are asking anyone who knows the whereabouts of three men from the Houston area to call 384-5417.

Obituaries
      Gertrude Beckett Gertrude Beckett, 81, of Brookeland died June 19 at Jasper Memorial Hospital. Funeral services were held June 22 at St. Raymond's Catholic Church at Sam Rayburn. Burial followed at Brookeland Cemetery under the direction of Stringer and Griffin Funeral Home of Jasper.

      Jasper County Sheriff Ronnie McBride reports there was an error on the June 8 arrest report printed last week. It listed Sherry Selina Hopson as being arrested. The name should be Sherry Ann Hopson, 28, driving while intoxicated with a child under 15; bond $2,500.
