NEW — UPDATED WEDNESDAY Power outage blamed on fallen limb

Representatives from Entergy and the city of Jasper blamed a fallen tree limb on power wires for the outage that plunged Jasper into darkness late Tuesday evening.

According to city of Jasper electric director Danny Wade, a tree limb fell on a transformer line near Holly Springs. The city experienced relay problems in transferring power to the back up power source from Sam Rayburn.

Most areas experienced a short blackout but some areas were without power for up to an hour, according to Wade.
