BREAKING NEWS: Liquor petition turned in Jasper County Clerk's office

 

The Jasper Newsboy has learned that The Jasper Citizens for Better Business turned it a petition with more than 500 signatures on it to the Jasper County Clerk's office Friday, Feb. 8.

State law requires the group to gather approximately 450 signatures of the city of Jasper residents giving the voters the right to vote on two issues. One issue will allow the legal sale of beer and wine only in places like grocery and convenience stores. The second issue will legalize alcohol sales in state-recognized restaurants, thus eliminating the unicard or private club memberships.
