Martin Dies hosting two programs
Enjoy a Cowboy Christmas

The first holiday program of the season is at Martin Dies State Park this Saturday, Nov. 25, starting at 4 p.m., titled A Cowboy Christmas.

From 4 to 5 p.m. there will be a chili tasting for adults while kids participate in stick horse barrel racing, lassoing, and other feats of cowboy skill, all for prizes provided by Friends of the Park.

Starting at 5 p.m. the rangers will hold a campfire with a cowboy poetry and a western sing-along. Ranger Katherine

Crippen says she will have a power-point flashing the words to Deep in the Heart of Texas just in case out-of-town guests don't know the words.

The Cowboy Christmas will be held in the Walnut Ridge unit, 11 miles west of Jasper, take the right (north) entrance to the park.

In case of bad weather, the event will be held in the dining hall at Walnut Ridge.
