Deputies nab man for passing fake $100 bills Joshua Kane Snider, 30, of Jasper has been arrested and charged with passing counterfeit $100 bills, according to Stacey Chambers, captain of investigations at the Jasper County Sheriff's Department. As of Monday, Snider remained in jail and had not posted bond. On Nov. 21, Jasper Police were dispatched to Vision Video concerning a a fake $100 being passed on Nov. 17. A check of the video store's records showed that Snider purchased cigarettes and a movie rental with the $100 bill. According to Kim Buckmaster of Vision Video, Snider allegedly returned to the store Nov. 20 and attempted to pur- chase more cigarettes with another $100 bill and was informed they would not accept the cash from him because it was counterfeit. According to the police report, Snider told the video store employee that a black male who purchased lawn equipment from him gave him the bills. On Nov. 21, Jasper police were dispatched to Brookshire Brothers at 2:17 p.m. in reference to a male suspect passing a fake $100 bill while purchasing gas and cigarettes. Chambers said Snider has confessed to the federal offense of counterfeiting. Snider allegedly bleached $5 bills and then used a home computer to scan and print the likeness of a $100 bill, but all bills had the same serial number. The arrest was made by investigator Lt. Paul Tomplaint and Sheriff's Deputy Mitchel Newman. |
