Faces & Places Poinsettia time Lakes Area Hospice will take orders through Nov. 30 for poinsettias that will be delivered Dec. 6-7. Red or white plants are available. Call 384-5995 to order. Christmas tour The Buna Women's Civic Club Christmas tour of homes will be Satuday, Dec. 2, from 1-5 p.m. The homes on the tour will be the Callier home at 2694 FM 2938, the Parr home at 295 FM 2938, the Lopez home at 2092 CR 700. Festival of Trees The official lighting of the Jasper Festival of Trees is Friday, Dec. 8 at 5 p.m. followed by the Christmas parade around the square. STARS graduation The Southeast Texas Academic Recovery School (STARS) will hold graduation ceremonies Dec. 11 in the Jasper High School auditorium at 5:30 p.m. Monthly recycling Texas Beautiful announced that every third weekend recycle bins will be available at Brookshire Brothers parking lot for things like plastic and steel. Area coordinator Patty Shaw says that newspapers can be recycled weekdays by dropping them off at the city transfer station on Hi Truett Road off U. S. Highway 190 North. Proceeds from newspaper recycling benefit the Jasper Library. Story time Jasper Public Library is interested in hosting a story time for children and is currently conducting a survey to determine the best day and time. Those interested in participating should call 384- 3791 to give number and age of children and convenient times for attendance. Remembrance monument Donations to place a remembrance monument to Ashley Buckalew at Jasper High School may be made to account number 800707890 at First State Bank in Jasper. Cancer control program Jasper-Newton County Public Health District's breast and cervical cancer control program offers women free breast exams, mammography and pap smear. Women with limited income, who have no insurance, Medicaid or Medicare are eligible. Women should be aged 50-64. Those qualifying for this program schould call the Jasper office at 384- 6829; Newton office at 379- 5291; Kirbyville office at 423- 6133 or the Buna office at 994-5921, Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Bereavement luncheon Caring Friends bereavement luncheon for anyone who has lost a loved one is held the third Tuesday of each month at 11 a.m. at the Belle-Jim Hotel. Luncheon is hosted by Lakes Area Hospice (384-5995) and Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home (384-5781). Regional arts East Texas Regional Art Center, located at the corner of Austin and Crockett streets in Jasper features rotating exhibits from national, regional and local artists. Art classes and workshops are available. The art league meets the first Monday of each month and is open to the public. For more information call 384- 2404 or 489-9460. The center is open Tuesday-Friday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and Saturdays by appointment. 4-H, Cloverbud kids Jasper Community 4-H and Cloverbud kids will hold regular meetings the third Tuesday of every month at 6:30 p.m., at St. Michael's Catholic Church on U.S. Highway 190 west in Jasper.
