Blueitt promoted to Colonel in reserves

Col. Odis R. Blueitt
Odis R. Blueitt, originally from Kirbvyille, has been promoted to Colonel in the U.S. Army reserve, according to a press release.

Blueitt will command the newly activated 7304th Medical Training Support Battalion at Ft. Sam Houston in San Antonio.

Blueitt served as commander of the 18th Field Hospital and has more than 24 years of military service. He served during Operation Desert Storm and Operation Noble Eagle.

Blueitt has earned eight army commendations and numerous medals, including the Kuwait and Saudi Arabia Liberation Medals.

Blueitt graduated from Kirbyville High School in 1978 and was appointed to West Point, where he attended two years before transferring to Texas A&M to complete his degree.

Blueitt is the son of Nathaniel and Ada J. Phillips of Kirbyville.
