Eddie Dunn: 'I will treasure my time in Jasper because of people'
Dr. Eddie Dunn

I T HAS BEEN MY HONOR to serve as Superintendent of Jasper ISD. I genuinely appreciate our students,

staff, Board of Trustees and community

for allowing me to be a part of the Jasper "Team." We have shared, among many other experiences, the challenges of Hurricane Rita, a difficult but necessary reduction in force, the advent of the new state accountability system, intensive staff training, technological advances and curriculum development, all in a spirit of teamwork, mutual respect and commitment to excellence.

There are many people to thank within the district: the administrators, faculty, staff, support staff, retired teachers and the Board of Trustees. Each of you, in partnership with those who entrust us with their children, has given so much to the students of Jasper ISD. I am humbled to have been allowed to work with such talented and dedicated educators.

There are many to thank within the community: the clergy and business leaders who have supported the STARS campus and other initiatives, civic and government leaders, higher education partners, taxpayers and of course, our parents. It has been a genuine honor to work together in service to the children and youth of Jasper.

As the challenges facing public education continue to demand our best effort, I pray for Jasper a continued spirit of teamwork, mutual respect and commitment to excellence. It is only then that true success is possible.

I will always remember and treasure my time in Jasper because of you, the people. In all ways, at all times, and under all circumstances, I wish and pray for the very best for Jasper ISD.

Dr. Eddie Dunn serves as superintendent of the Jasper Independent School District through Nov. 30, 2006, when he will leave to become superintendent of the Ennis Independent School District on Dec. 1.
