Temple-Inland taps Samford

Robert G. (Bob) Samford has been named director of local government affairs/property taxes for Temple-Inland Inc. as announced by Richard A. Bennett, Temple-Inland’s vice president of government affairs.

In this new position, Samford will be responsible for municipal, county (parish) and regional government relations, community affairs, and property taxes in communities where Temple- Inland has operations. He will report to Bennett.

Samford will represent Temple-Inland in Jasper and Newton counties.

“Bob’s vast experience with local and regional officials, along with his property tax background, uniquely qualifies him for this important job. He will bring a significant level of support to our state and federal government relations efforts,” said Bennett.

Samford joined Temple- Inland in 1989 as property tax representative and was named Property Tax Manager in 1992. He earned a Bachelor of Applied Arts and Science from Sam Houston State University and has completed executive management programs at Stanford University, Wharton School of Business and University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business. Samford serves as a Director of the Lake Travis Education Foundation and is active in numerous property tax related organizations.
