Library book sale solution to holiday shopping dilemmas

JOYCE KING signed copies her latest book,“Forgotten Hurricane,” at an open house Dec. 7 sponsored by Friends of the Library.
Lines are short (or nonexistent), one size fits all (truly), and there is something for everyone at the Jasper Library book sale, according to librarian Denise Milton.

The library still has a few of the Woman’s Civic Club limited edition cookbooks, “They Cooked,” illustrated by local artist Bill Wise. “They’re going like candy canes,” Milton said.

For stocking stuffers they have the scholastic series children’s books ranging from $3.50 to $19.50.

Last week the Friends of the Library sponsored a book signing by Joyce King, author of “The Forgotten Hurricane,” about Hurricane Rita, “Growing up Southern,” and “Hate Crime.” King said she considers Jasper her second home.

The library also has copies of “The Millionaire’s Secret” by Tom Harken, “The Mystery of Lady Bountiful” by Bob and Doris Bowman and Edward Barrett, and “The Jasper Journal” by Nida Marshall.

They offer four books by William Seale, “Sam Houston’s Wife,” “The President’s House,” “The White House Garden” and “The White House.”

Library hours are Monday to Friday 10 a.m.-6 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
