Shofner receives commendation

Army Specialist Robert J. Shofner received an Army commendation medal for supporting the mission of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

The medal is awarded to individuals who have distinguished themselves by acts of heroism or meritorious achievement or service.

Shofner is an air traffic controller with more than two years of military service.

He is the son of Billy and Wanda L. Shofner of Jasper and a 2004 graduate of Jasper High School.
