John Bryan received a congressional commendation award at Montgomery College on Dec. 2 for serving on the nomination board that selects cadets for the U.S. service academies.
“It was an honor to be selected,” Bryan said. “I was assigned to the applicants for the naval academy and I spoke to some absolutely wonderful young people.”
Eighteen people served on the committee that reviewed applicants from the eighth congressional district. They based their recommendations on SAT scores, appearance, motivation, extra-curricular activities, sports, and community service.
Congressman Kevin Brady presented the award to Bryan for his service.
Bryan works at Dickerson Memorial Hospital. His wife Emily recently retired from 38 years of teaching at Trinity Episcopal School..
