Orangefield rolls past Lady Dogs
By GEORGIA PURDY

JASPER’S BRITTANY GOFF fights with a trio of Orangefield defenders for a loose ball during last Tuesday’s 80-16 defeat.
The Jasper Lady Bulldogs couldn’t get anything going against the Orangefield defense Tuesday night, resulting in a 80-16 loss. It was their second district loss in two outings.

Orangefield held Jasper to only two points in the first quarter while they sank 36, several from the outside.

The Lady Bobcats picked up another 17 in the second period, putting them up 53-7 at the half. Eighteen of those points were three-pointers, three by Orangefield’s Kaylin Little.

The Lady Bulldogs were plagued by turnovers as their long passes were frequently picked off. Orangefield was quick, very disciplined and knew where they were going with the ball.

Jasper scored seven points in the third quarter to Orangefield’s 12 and once again were held to two points in the fourth.

To their credit, this team never gave up even though they were no match for the Lady Bobcats’ athleticism.

Shalithia Middleton was high point for the Lady Bulldogs with seven points, followed by Brittany Bronson, six.

Kristy Sander led Orangefield with 18 points while Kaylin Little scored 17 and Nicole Judia added 16 points.

Junior varsity lost 39- 27. Janice Shelby had 12 points, followed by Tameeka Galloway 10.

Jasper played Bridge City last night and will be on the road with West Orange-Stark Jan. 5.
