Grand jury names five

The Jasper County grand jury indicted five individuals on five counts at its meeting Dec. 14 in Jasper County Criminal District Attorney Ted G. Walker’s final grand jury proceedings.

Roy Earl McGar, 30, of Brookland, was indicted on assault against a public servant charges. McGar allegedly assaulted Jasper County sheriff’s deputies Todd Y’Barbo and Bob Lowe.

Robert Jason Johnson, 26, of Call was indicted on aggravated sexual assault of a child. The incident is alleged to have occurred in August of 2005 and Johnson is accused of allegedly having inappropriate relations with a 14-year-old.

Jason G. Murphy, 28, of Silsbee was indicted on possession of a controlled substance charge. Murphy’s indictment alleges he possessed cocaine during an Oct. 25, 2005 arrest.

Lamon Midkiff, 29, of Woodville was indicted on a robbery charge. Midkiff is accused of allegedly assaulting an individual and taking money from them.

Brian Martinolich, 25, of Leesville was indicted on possession of a controlled substance. Martinolich’s indictment alleges he was in possession of methamphetamines during an Oct. 24, 2004 arrest.

Two other indictments were also handed down by the grand jury but the names of the defendants were sealed and cannot be made public until the warrants are served.

It is important to note that an indictment simply means that the grand jury found enough evidence to warrant a trial. It is not an indication of guilt.
