First come, first served assistance at DETCOG

The Deep East Texas Council of Governments is currently taking applications from homeowners whose property suffered damages as a result of Hurricane Rita, according to a recent press release.

Assistance is offered on a first come, first served basis for home repair, renovation or replacement in 11 East Texas counties, including Jasper, Newton, Tyler, Sabine, San Augustine, Angelina, Nacogdoches, Polk, Shelby, Trinity and San Jacinto.

To be eligible, you must have owned and occupied a single-family residential until on Sept. 23, 2005 and have a total household income that does not exceed 80 percent of the median family income for your area.
