Tippett switches uniforms
Wants to work with kids, pursue coaching ambitions

Tippett
Officer Aaron Tippett changed uniforms for the New Year - he has switched from a lieutenant with the sheriff's department to the school resource officer for Kirbyville.

Sheriff Ronnie McBride said, "He was one of our veterans and we hated to lose him, but he wants to pursue a career in education."

Chief Deputy Jack Jett said, "Tippett has served the department five years. He's a multi-talented officer and a very good investigator. We will miss him."

Tippett said when he was growing up there were two things he wanted to be, a coach or a cop, "and I didn't realize how much I wanted to be a coach until I became a cop."

He said the Monday- Friday hours appeal to him and will give him a chance to work on getting the degree he needs to become a teacher.

Tippett will work all three Kirbyville campuses, the high school, junior high and elementary schools. During the summer he will go into rotation with the rest of the Kirbyville police force.

Tippett has always been involved in Little League and school sports, and enjoys working with kids.
