Theater tickets on sale for new play
'Over the River' directed by Norwood

The Jasper Community Theater will present Over the River and Through the Woods at six performances beginning next week at the Tonahill Theater on U.S. Highway 96 South.

Performances will be at 7 p.m. Jan 18-20, Jan. 25 and Jan. 27, and a Saturday matinee Jan. 27 at 2 p.m.

Joe Di Pietro's play is an intense comedy/drama about an extended Italian family, but southerners will easily relate to the situations, according to Khristina Hanel from the Chamber of Commerce, who plays one of the leads. "The situations around the dinner table remind me of family dinners when I was growing up," Hanel said.

Jeff Teague plays a young man wrestling with the difficult decision of whether to accept a job that will take him far from family. "There are touching elements about this story of a guy who has lived all his life near his grandparents," Teague said.

The play is directed by Charles Norwood and sponsored by First National Bank.

Tickets are available at Shy-Bee Electric, 384-8718, or The Cottage, 384-7862.
