Police make seizure from two businesses
Ordinance prohibits sales of explicit items

JASPER POLICE CHIEF TODD HUNTER examines sexually explicit movies during a seizure Jan. 10.
Armed with warrants and a city ordinance prohibiting the selling of sexually explicit materials, Jasper Police confiscated items at two local stores.

Warrants were served at Sunshine #15, located at the corner of Graham and East Gibson Street and at Sunshine Store #3, located in the 1100 block of North Wheeler.

"We had received some complaints about people having these materials in the city so we sent in two undercovers (Jan. 8) and found the items were here," said Jasper Police Chief Todd Hunter.

Hunter helped serve the warrant at the Sunshine #15 location with Stephen Williamson, the City of Jasper's code enforcement officer.

Both stores were cited for selling the explicit materials without having a permit to operate a sexually oriented business.

Officers conducting the searches seized all of the movies and magazines.

Williamson cited the store clerks at both locations for selling the items.
