Byrd recognized for work with children

Tracy Byrd will be honored with the Dr. Richard Shorkey Award at the Shorkey Center's 62nd annual dinner Jan. 25 at the Holiday Inn Plaza in Beaumont.

Shorkey Center is a non-profit United Way agency that provides services to children with physical disabilities and learning challenges.

"As a Children's Miracle Network ambassador, Tracy is never too busy to lend his hand and talents to help a child with special needs," according to Connie Berry, public relations director.

Byrd is a country music legend who also hosts two television shows on the Outdoor Channel. His passions are hunting, fishing and he has his own line of food products.
