Your chance to star: open casting call

If you have always dreamed of stepping on stage, the next play scheduled by the Jasper Community Theater may be your golden opportunity, according to publicist Becki Mayhar.

There will be an open casting call for Greater Tuna Feb. 5-6 at 6:30 p.m. at the Tonahill Theater on U.S. Highway 96 South.

The Tuna trilogy of plays are about "the third smallest town in Texas," and the cast usually consists of two men who play all the town characters. Director Charles Norwood instead hopes to cast 20 people.

Mayhar says anyone who has ever dreamed of acting should try out because there's a part for every type, men and women, and a script that guarantees a fun production set.

"Besides, we need some new blood," Mayhar says. For the shy types, there's also jobs in costume design, set construction, and as behind-the-scenes worker bees.

Meanwhile, the current play, Over the River and Through the Woods, has three more performances; Thursday and Saturday, Jan. 25 and 27, at 7 p.m. and a Saturday matinee Jan. 27 at 2 p.m. Tickets are available at Shy-Bee Electric, The Cottage or at the door.

For more information, contact Becki Mayhar at 383-0535 or 594-4349.
