Join club now to be in photo contest The East Texas Photography Club has found a new home at the Jasper City Hall on Main Street and will meet at 7 p.m. Jan. 30 in the council room behind the building. "It's a planning session, and we have a lot to cover," according to new president Patty Ruiz. Normally the agenda includes a program on photo techniques or equipment, but this month members will be planning the People's Choice photo show for the Azalea Fest in March, and discussing at least two field trips. One trip discussed last year will be to a waterfall on private property to learn tips to shooting landscapes. Ruiz hopes members will bring suggestions for other field trips. The People's Choice spring show is open only to club members and is judged by public vote at the Azalea Fest. The club also holds a monthly photo contest judged by club members at the meeting. The January topic is "red" and members can submit up to three matted 5x7 photos. Members critique each photo in detail, and ribbons are awarded to winners. The photography club also sponsors the big photo contest at Fall Fest that is open to all. For more information call Ruiz at 383-0828. |
