Rowe readers return recess

Rowe principal Sherida Barnes reports these students were acknowledged as top Accelerated Readers at the School Board meeting Jan. 8:

Fifth grade- Franky Jones, Ethan Tucker, Tracy Lynn Bagwell. Sixth Grade- Alexis Sierra Gil- Fletcher, Lauren Brianne Long, Niha Zafer.

During Nov. 13 - Jan. 12, students were asked to read during cafeteria time after they had finished eating their lunch.

"I am pleased that so many of our students answered the call to read on a daily basis and raised AR points. The expectation of increasing daily minutes of reading was discussed with all students during a student assembly and many of our students reached goals of 25, 50, and 100 points within two months," according to Barnes.

"Due to the stick-to-it attitude of most of the students, days of recess will be reinstated," Barnes announced.
