Stover joins 'Life' board of directors Susan Stover, president of Jasper's Walk of Hope, will attend the Julie Rogers "Gift of Life" Program in Beaumont Thursday, Jan. 25. The program will honor the YMBL and the University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center's Vice President of Cancer Prevention, Bernard Levin, MD, for "Making a Difference" in the lives of Southeast Texans during the organization's annual board. Bill Leger, KFDM TVChannel 6 News Anchor, will serve as Master of Ceremonies for the meeting, during which the 2007-2008 officers and new board members will also be introduced. Stover will be sworn into the board of directors. The Corporate "Spirit of Love" Award is given annually to pay tribute to organizations that exhibit outstanding community leadership and share the "Gift of Life" mission of providing quality healthcare for those who are medically underserved. Memorial Hermann Baptist Hospitals, the Nelda C. and H. J. Lutcher Stark Foundation, BASF FINA Petrochemicals, LP, H-E-B, and Entergy Texas have previously been recognized. This year's recipient, the YMBL, has sponsored "Gift of Life" mobile mammography van sites for eight consecutive years, offering support of more than $40,000 that has provided over 300 clinical breast exams and mammograms for medically underserved women. The YMBL raised additional funding for the "Gift of Life" last May during its "Tough Enough to Wear Pink" campaign of the 61st Annual Rodeo. |
