Lifters claim second place finish

The Jasper varsity boys power-lifting team placed second overall with 38 points in the Shepherd Invitational meet Jan. 20.

Travon Limbrick set a meet record on squat with 455 and on bench with 215 at the Shepherd Powerlifting meet this past weekend. Limbrick took first place in the 132-pound division with a total of 1,065.

Other first place varsity winners were Marques Johnson in the 242 division with a total of 1,350 and David Beck in the 148 division with a total of 1,150.

Mike Lewis was second in the 123 division. His total was 720.

Three lifters placed third: Raymond Hafford, 275 division and 1,365 total weight; Trae Horn, 198 division, whose total was 1,155; and Xavier Mays, 181 division, and a 1,100 total.

In the junior varsity division, Cliff Mitchell took first place in the 220- weight class with a total of 1,085. Steven Shives also took a first in the 275 class. His total was 1,085.

"We are proud of all of these young men for the way they competed and carried themselves," coach Eric Farrar said.

They will compete at Dayton Feb. 3.

The girls also competed at Shepherd. Kimyona Lee took the top spot in the 198 class with a total of 685.

Tamala Hafford was third in the 97 class with 425 pounds. Brianna Lee competed in her first meet of the season and had a total lift of 520 lbs. in the 148 lb. weight class.

The girls will compete in Livingston Feb. 10.
