Bits of Faith Revival institute Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church will continue its annual revival-institute through Feb. 8 at 6:30 p.m. nightly. Gym night First Baptist Church of Jasper will hold an open gym night for ages 12 to young adult Friday, Feb. 9, from 6-10 p.m. They will have basketball and volleyball. Motivational speakers New Bethel Baptist Church will celebrate Black History month with motivational speakers each Sunday during the 11 a.m. worship service. Feb. 11 James Adams, supervisor of JISD transportation will speak on "The Tenets of Freedom." Feb. 18 Saundra Beatty Nichols will speak on "Business and Economics in a Global Society. Feb. 25 Delora Coleman Leach will speak on "Our Heritage- What are we teaching our children." To conclude the month a black history play by Ladora Coleman-Boatner, "Educating Generation X," will be performed at 6 p.m. Daughters of the King The Daughters of the King of Trinity Episcopal Church, at 800 N. Main, will admit Judith Clower to membership of the Order on Sunday, Feb. 11 at 10 a.m. The ceremony will occur during Holy Eucharist. A reception in the parish hall will follow the service. Miracles and signs Evangelist Steve Sampson has reserved the First National Bank community room Feb. 16 at 7 p.m. and Feb. 18 at 3 p.m., and the Lions Club community room Feb. 17 at 7 p.m. Sampson is from Birmingham, Ala. and has appeared on Trinity Broadcast Network. Mission workshop Greater New Bethel Baptist Church will host their annual mission institute workshop Feb. 19-21 at 7 p.m. nightly. Prayer breakfast The United Methodist Men and the Burkeville Ministerial Alliance will offer a community prayer breakfast Tuesday, Feb. 20, at 8 a.m. at Burkeville United Methodist Church. Melissa Burks, Newton County tax assessor, will be guest speaker. Ladies retreat First Baptist Church of Jasper will hold a ladies prayer retreat Feb. 23-24 at the East Texas Baptist encampment. The program "Live the Call" and will feature speakers and special interest sessions.
