Relay for Life warm ups with gumbo dinner

As part of the warm-up for the Relay for Life, cancer survivors will be honored at a gumbo dinner at the First National Bank Community Room Tuesday, Feb. 13, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Relay coordinator Mary Marthaler said 11 teams have already formed for the April 27-28 Relay for Life that raises money for the American Cancer Society. Last year the event pulled in more than $34,000 from Jasper.

"Teams can be formed at any time up until the event," Marthaler said.

Luminaria bags "in memory of" or "in honor of" people who had cancer are available from Dot Scheibe at Shy-Bee Electric, 384-8718.
