Lady Dawgs drop contests to WO-S, Hardin-Jefferson
After a first quarter deficit of 14-5 against West Orange-Stark, Jasper was unable catch up. The Lady Mustangs scored 20 points to Jasper's 11 in the second quarter, and 17-9 in the third. Only in the fourth period did the Lady 'Dogs play close, scoring 14 points to WO-S 16. Brittany Bronson led the Jasper team with 15 points, followed by Anna Nation, 14. The Lady 'Dogs did a much better job against Hardin-Jefferson Friday night. Having lost the first round by almost 40 points, they were determined not to repeat. Still, it was an uphill battle to stay close and going into the fourth quarter they had dropped behind by 21 points. "We played with a lot of fire Friday night," coach Joe Baker said. "I was proud of the way the girls kept playing even when we were down by so many points." Brittany Bronson led Jasper's scoring effort with 14 points, followed by Courtney Baker and Anna Nation, six each. Breuanna Hafford, Audri Phillips, and Denissia Spikes also contributed points. "We've played each team in our district better the second time around," Baker said. "We've learned how to pull good things out of our games, and I'm proud of the way these girls just never give up." The Lady Bulldogs played their final game against Silsbee last night. |
