Christmas at Valentine's?
Woman's Civic Club not kidding around with home tour plans

It may seem strange to be discussing Christmas plans on Valentine's Day, but if your goal is to have the biggest tour of homes that Jasper has ever seen, start early, according to Darlene Nolen, president of the Woman's Civic Club.

Their first exploratory meeting about a 2007 tour was held last week with leaders from several area clubs and Liz Street from the Jasper/Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce.

Tentative date and time will be Thusday, Dec. 13, 11 a.m. until 7 or 8 p.m. The committee decided to limit participation to the first 10 who commit and a standby list. Several clubs have already said they will have a home in the tour.

Local clubs and organizations can sponsor a home, or homeowners can request a club to sponsor them for the tour. It will be up to the club and the homeowner as to how the home is decorated and shown.

The Woman's Civic Club will handle all the other details such as tickets, maps, and publicity. There will be no food or drink served in the tour homes. The Woman's Civic Club across from the Wesley Center will have refreshments, entertainment and decorations.

Plans call for the Woman's Civic Club to host this tour every other year. For additional information, contact Heidi Meaux at 384-5747 or Darlene Nolen at 384-8759.
