      Joe Garrison Joe Garrison, 57, of Sam Rayburn died Feb. 11 at his home. A private memorial service will be held at a later date under the direction of Forest Oaks Funeral Home of Jasper. Survivors include daughters Jennifer Kippola of Katy and Jeackie Maderazo of Houston.

Sheriff's news all good
      Jasper County Sheriff Ronnie McBride swore in his first female deputy, Kristine Norman, last week. "She is replacing Deputy Mitchell Newman, who has taken a job with Precinct 4 Commissioner Vance Moss," McBride said. Norman completed her training with Angelina College in Lufkin.
