Firm to collect city bills

Any residents owing the city of Jasper for utilities, be prepared.

The city has entered into an agreement with the National Service Bureau (NSB) for collection of delinquent utility accounts.

City Manager Alan Grindstaff said the city is owed $386,500 for bills that are more than 90 days or longer past due. Strangely enough, the city has never utilized a collection agency before for past due, unpaid accounts.

In their agreement with NSB, the city can terminate the contract with 30 days written notice or failure on their part in meeting the contract terms.
