Jasper choir going to state competition

Ten members of the Jasper High School Choir competed last Saturday in the Region X UIL solo competition in Baytown.

Eight JHS students received superior ratings on Class I solos. They are Jessica Alvis, Katelyn Dougharty, Jessica Guy, Brittney Hadnot, Marcie Ratcliff, Colton Smith, Nicole Spiller and Kelsey Walker.

Two JHS students received excellent ratings on Class I solos, Logan Dean and Anthony McCarter.

"All of these students chose Class I solos, the most difficult on the list," according to Martin Jones, choir director. "They represented themselves, their families and Jasper in an exemplary manner."

He said the eight students who received superior ratings would advance to the state competition in May.
