Sheriff's news all good

Jasper County Sheriff Ronnie McBride swore in his first female deputy, Kristine Norman, last week.

"She is replacing Deputy Mitchell Newman, who has taken a job with Precinct 4 Commissioner Vance Moss," McBride said.

Norman completed her training with Angelina College in Lufkin.

McBride also said the Jasper County jail recently passed its annual inspection by the Texas Jail Commission on the first try.

"They told me it's the first time this jail has ever passed the first time around, mostly due our jail administrator Diane Brown," McBride said.

Chief Deputy Jack Jett reported to the commissioners last week that most of the construction problems with the new addition to the jail had been completed.

McBride said they have also completed a new security fence.
