Christus classes teach diabetes management Christus Jasper Memorial Hospital is offering a free fiveclass diabetes education program that will cover meal planning, exercise and medication management. Diabetes is a disorder that affects almost 14 million children and adults in this country. Although medical science has made significant progress against the disease, it continues to be a major health threat. Complications can lead to amputations, blindness, kidney failure and it doubles the risk of heart attack or stroke. Christus' classes are free and no pre-registration is necessary. Classes will be held in the Robert Hall Building on Thomas Street behind Christus Jasper Memorial Hospital on consecutive Tuesdays from 6-8 p.m. March 6: Understanding diabetes March 13: Meal planning and nutrition March 20: Medication management March 27: Exercise tips April 3: Complications |
