Walking the Halls The halls of Rowe Intermediate are taking on the appearance of spring. The main building is decorated with students' "Above and Beyond" work that portrays the biomes of the earth. The colors are vibrant and lively. Most visitors who venture over to the science wing find themselves taking a second glance at the creative artwork that visually depicts what students are learning. Another eye catcher is the artwork, created by Delbert Beckham, which is on display in the front office area of the school and the library. This artwork is being featured as part of the "Meet the Artist Program." The creative art pieces have added life to the front entrance. Students and teachers are enjoying the added attraction. This time of year is often the busiest point of the school year. Students are preparing for the Odyssey of the Mind Contest. Fifth grade tutorial sessions are in full swing and TAKS administrations are scheduled for the months of February, March, April, and May. Yes, there's a lot to focus on. Sixth grade TAKS tutorials will be conducted March 1 - April 12; and Fifth grade math tutorials will begin on Feb. 27. Additional sessions will be scheduled contingent upon the results of the February and March TAKS administrations. The Rowe faculty and staff would like to welcome aboard the following personnel to the campus: Karrah Edgerton, (nurse); Katie Brewster, (6th grade social studies teacher); Yvonne Childs, (ESL teacher aide); and Joann White, (6th grade title I tutor). Within the next week or two, you will begin to hear about the "student author's column." Many of our students who enjoy writing in their spare time have volunteered to create and develop the monthly column. Randi Rose is the sponsor of the student author's column. A copy of the column will be distributed to students every other week. All parents are invited to attend the Black History program that will be held on Feb. 28 at 1 p.m. The theme of the program will be "Footprints of the Past and Present." During the week of March 12 - 16, students will be on spring break.
