Women's conference explores strengths
Non-denominational, multi-cultural affirmation of women's faith, value

"Women's Spirituality and our Role Today" is the title of a women's nondenominational conference being planned for Saturday, March 31.

It is sponsored by the Catholic Daughters of the Americas of Jasper's St. Michael's Church, but many women from all faiths join in the all day conference, according to Maria Luisa Edwards, executive coordinator.

The speakers so far include Dr. Lorraine Deluca, "Women of the Bible;" Rosalind Sanchez, "Women in Life of Prayer;" Dr. Willie Brown, "Cultural Roles of a Spiritual Woman;" and Heidi Meaux and Susan Stover, "Women's Strength by Faith."

Norberta Gonzalez and Maria Luisa Edwards will provide Spanish translation. Spanish speakers will be Gloria Esperanze Torres, "Mujer maestra, esposa, profesional, amiga;" Marie Luisa Edwards, "Mujeres en la Biblia;" and Karen Williamson, "Mujer autoestima y violencia domestica."

Darlene Nolen and Liz McClurg will lead the panel discussions.

The conference will be 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. at St. Michael Catholic Hall. Pre-pregistration will b e $10, $12 at the door. For more information call 383-1412 or 698-9496.
