Library book sale big enough to break all records

Newsboy photo/ Sharon Kerr IT LOOKS LIKE A BONANZA for the book sale this Saturday at the Fire Hall. Library supporters Estelle Debney and Tom McClurg are already eyeing the selections. Members of the Woman's Civic Club who volunteer to sort will get a sneak preview, and Friends of the Library can purchase early at the membership drive Friday from 5 to 7 p.m.
Such is the quantity of books donated for the library book sale that the Woman's Civic Club, who sponsor the event, is asking for volunteers to help sort them.

Event coordinator Margie Saulsbury started yesterday setting up tables and unpacking books in the Fire Hall across from the Jasper Library on Water Street. Hours that volunteers are needed are 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. today and Friday, March 14 and 16, and 1-6 p.m. Thursday, March 15.

"It's one way to get a sneak preview," said librarian Denise Milton, who hopes to raise enough funds to build a new library soon.

The sale will be 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. Saturday March 17, but Friends of the Library have the opportunity to purchase during the membership drive Friday from 5-7 p.m.
