Spring cleaning includes your vehicle as well

Spring has sprung, and you can't wait to open the doors and windows and do a little spring cleaning. While you're at it, you might want to devote some attention to your vehicle. After months of traveling through the grit and grime of winter, it deserves a little spring cleaning, too. Prepare your vehicle now for the warm weather that lies ahead.

To keep your vehicle looking and running its best this spring, follow these tips:

t Replace winter tires or rotate all-season tires.

t Wash and wax the exterior, being extra careful to remove any salt build-up from the wheel wells and underbody.

t Dust the interior and apply protectant to any surfaces susceptible to sun damage.

t Clean the upholstery and carpet and replace winter mats.

t Inspect all belts and hoses and replace any that need it.

t Change the oil and filter.

t Top off any fluids that may have been used during the winter.

t Replace windshield wiper blades for spring showers.

t Get a tune-up if needed and have the brakes inspected by a professional.

t Update the emergency roadside kit.

As spring comes to an end and summer begins, the temperatures will start to rise. Hot weather can take its toll on a vehicle. To keep your vehicle looking and running its best this summer, take these extra measures:

t Have the antifreeze tested by a professional to ensure it's full strength.

t Make sure the radiator cap is in good condition.

t Have the engine's cooling system inspected, flushed and refilled by a professional.

tCheck the tires regularly for wear and tear.

t Keep the tires properly inflated.

These are just some basic tips for preparing your vehicle for the warm weather ahead.

To ensure your vehicle stays in tip-top condition, maintain and service it regularly according to the schedules provided in your owner's manual and take it to a service center any time you suspect something is wrong.

Spring has sprung and there is no better time to prepare your vehicle for the warm weather ahead.
