JJH track squad off to good start Jasper Junior High's girls' track team is off to an impressive start. Eighth graders brought home two first place wins at Hardin-Jefferson and Kirbyville while the seventh grade was the runner up in both. The eighth grade team took first place in all three-relay events at both meets. Andrea Barnes, Danielle Lockwood, Hannah Vickers, and Jocelyn Land made up the 400 and 800-meter teams. The 1600 meters team consisted of Barnes, Charlotte O'Brien, Vickers, and Allison Collins. First place winners in individual events at Hardin Jefferson include O'Brien, 2400 meters run; Land, 100 meters dash and long jump; Lockwood, 200 meters dash; Barnes, triple jump; Haley Shipman, 800 meters dash; and Andreia Castle, 300 meters hurdles; Alexa Dutton, discus; and Shakil Babino, shot put. In second place were O'Brien, 400 meters dash and high jump; Castle, 100 meters hurdles; Collins, 300 meters hurdles; Barnes, long jump; Land, triple jump; Dutton, shot put; and Shipman, 1200 meters run. Third place went to Kelsey Murray, 800 meters dash and 1200 meters run; and Babino in discus. Castle earned fifth in shot and Collins was sixth in the 100 meters hurdles. Charlotte O'Brien took the top spot at Kirbyville in three individual events: 2400 meters, 400 meters, and high jump. Other first place finishes went to Shipman, 800 and 1200 meters; and Dutton, discus and shot put. Second place went to Murray, 800 meters run; Collins, 200 meters hurdles; Barnes, triple jump, Babino, discus; and Castle, shot put. Third place finishes included Murray, 1200 meters run; Land, long jump and triple jump; Shipman, high jump; and Babino, shot put. In seventh grade action both the 400 and 800 meters relay teams won first place at Hardin- Jefferson and Kirbyville. Members were Nacambria Shaw, Daquita Evans, Ebony Adams, and Kim Deshotel. Individuals placing first at Hardin-Jefferson included Kiara Cauley, 100 meters and 200 meters hurdles; Deshotel, 100 meters dash and triple jump; Shaw, 200 meters dash; and Gabriella Perdichizzi, 1200 meters. Ebony Adams was second in the 100 meters dash and triple jump and fourth in long jump; Daquita Evans, second in the 200 meters dash and third in discus; Taylor Manicom, third, 2400 meters run; Deshotel, fifth, long jump. At Kirbyville, first place finishes went to Cauley, 100 and 200 meters hurdles; Shaw, 100 meters dash; Deshotel, long jump and triple jump. Deshotel was also second in the 200 meters dash as was Adams in triple jump. Quintella Robert placed third in the 400 meters dash. T'Lexus McQueen was sixth in the 100 meters hurdles and tied for first in the 200 hurdles. |
