Powerlifters claim third place finish The Jasper boys' power lifting team placed third at the regional meet in Kirbyville March 10 with two lifters who also qualified for State. Jomar Cauley advances to state with his third place regional finish in the Super Heavy Weight class and a total lift of 1,600. Travon Limbrick qualified with his first place medal in the 132- weight class and a total of 1,080. Marques Johnson, placed third in the 242 class with a total of 1,380. Three lifters took fourth in their weight classes: Mike Lewis, 123 class, 740 total; Xavier Mays, 165 class, 1,130 total; and Trae Horn, 198 class and a total of 1,215. Michael Crowell was fifth in the 220 with 1,200 lbs.; Cliff Mitchell, sixth in the 220 with 1,100; and David Beck, seventh in the 148 class with 1,020; and Fred Jackson, 10th in the 198 class and a 1,100 total. Raymond Hafford and D'Anthony Limbrick scratched. "We are proud of all these young men," coach Eric Farrar said. "They competed with heart and class the entire year. We also appreciate the support of our Jasper fans. Many attended Saturday." |
