Carpenter eyes bright future for Dogs
By GEORGIA PURDY Newsboy Correspondent

The Jasper Bulldog soccer team lost 6-0 to Jacksonville last week; however, it was an improvement over the 12-0 match in the first round of district play.

The 'Dogs seemed flat and did not challenge their opponents' goal until the second half.

"This was the worst we've played in about a month," coach Troy Carpenter said. "We were out of sync all night, but we'll get it fixed. We have a very good opportunity to win two of the next three games.

"We are coming to the end of our season where we will lose two valuable seniors, Jose Navarro and our keeper, Jeff Parker."

Carpenter said he expects to have between 10 and 16 experienced players returning next year along with incoming freshmen.

"I'm looking forward to see what happens in the future," he said. "I think it is very bright."
