Citizen Bee winners
JASPER'S CHRISTOPHER GUARDIAN, second from right, tied for fourth place at the 17th annual Regional Citizen Bee at Lamar State College-Port Arthur. Catherine Clayton, a senior at Grace High School in Sugarland, captured first place. Morgan Gibson, a senior at Acorns to Oaks Academy in Damon, took second place. Peyton Arana, a senior at Monsignor Kelly Catholic High School in Beaumont, finished third. Fourth place was a tie between Alana Akers, a junior at Beaumont Central Medical Magnet High School, and Christopher Guardian, a junior at Jasper High School. Students from 12 Southeast Texas public high schools and four private high schools competed in this year's Citizen Bee, which consists of one-hour private written examination, followed by oral questions in a public forum on the stage of the 400-seat Lamar Theater.
