Faces & Places Idol search The 2007 Relay for Life committee is looking for talent for the all-night extravaganza that raises money for the American Cancer Society to be held April 27 on the courthouse square in Jasper. Scholarship pageant The Miss Southeast Texas Beauties Scholarship Pageant will be held March 24 at Kirbyville High School at two different times: ages 0-14 will be at 1 p.m. and 15 and up will be at 6 p.m. For more information call Kim at 423- 6417 or Sara at 994-2544. Diabetes classes Christus Jasper Memorial Hospital is offering free classes on diabetes management in the Robert Hall Building on Tuesdays from 6-8 p.m. Subjects are: March 27, exercise; April 3, complications of diabetes. $10,000 Visa card Jasper High School's Project Graduation is selling a limited number (300) of tickets for a $10,000 Visa card to be drawn April 15. Call JHS at 384-3242. Booster Club garage sale Jasper FFA Booster Club will hold a garage sale at the high school bus stop March 24 beginning at 8 a.m.. The club is currently seeking donations such as clothes, tools, furniture, whatever you can spare. Proceeds will benefit scholarships. Easter egg hunt A community Easter egg hunt is planned at the Spurger High School track March 24 starting at 11 a.m. All donations for the event are welcome. JHS Band benefit Students and parents involved with the Jasper High School band will be the servers at Lone Star Buffett Thursday, March 29 5-8:30 p.m. A donation from the restaurant as well as tips and additional contributions will benefit the JHS Band Booster Scholarship fund and the Jasper Band Program. JHS talent show Jasper High School will hold a talent show at 7 p.m. Friday, March 30, in the auditorium; proceeds will benefit the JHS Junior-Senior Prom. Jasper Air Show The fourth annual Jasper Air Show will be Saturday and Sunday, March 31 and April at the Jasper County Bell Field Airport. Dogwood arts and crafts The Wodville Business and Professional Women's Club will sponsor an arts and crafts fair March 31 and April 7, 8 a.m.- 6 p.m. during the Dogwood Festival. Monthly recycling Texas Beautiful announced that every third weekend recycle bins will be available at the southeast corner of the Community Church parking lot for things like plastic and steel. Area coordinator Patty Shaw says newspapers can be recycled any weekday by dropping them off at the city transfer station on Hi Truett Road. Proceeds from newspaper recycling benefit the Jasper Library. Senior Volunteers The Retired Senior Volunteer Program needs volunteers, age 55 and up. Call Ginger Studensky at 384-5704, ext. 271. Grief support The Friends of Job is a grief support organization to help those who have lost a child, grandchild or sibling.
