Sheriff's deputies seeking information on shootings

Courtesy photo THIS PONY WAS SHOT and eventually died, one of two found recently by Deputy Jeff Richardson. The sheriff's department is asking anyone who can identify the owner to please contact the sheriff's department at 384-5417.
In the past weeks the Jasper County sheriff's department has found two horses shot and left to die, according to Captain Stacey Chambers.

On Feb. 20, Deputy Jeff Richardson responded to a report of a horse tied to a tree in the woods on U.S. Highway 63 west of Jasper.

He found the horse had a single gunshot wound to the leg and was tied up and left to die.

On March 13, Richardson responded to a report of a horse in the Dixie Community on CR 101. Upon arrival, he found that this horse had also been shot.

"The first horse died at the vet and second horse died on the scene before we could get it loaded into a trailer," Chambers said.

"We are hoping that by publishing the photo and the story, maybe someone can identify who the horses belong to," Chambers said.

Anyone with information call the Jasper County Sheriff's office at 384-5417.
