Local students advance to Region V finals in rodeo

Junior high students from all of Region V competed in the Texas Wrangler Junior High Rodeo Division with the finals being held in Lufkin.

Jasper sent eight participants to the Region V finals in Lufkin.

The top six contestants in each event will advance to the Texas State Finals in Gonzales May 28-June 2.

Ashley Clark of Jasper placed third in girls' goat tying; fourth in girls' breakaway roping and first in ribbon roping.

Brooke Kaylor of Jasper placed second in girls' goat tying, sixth in girls breakaway roping and fourth in ribbon roping.

Cooper Davis of Jasper placed second in team roping, fifth in chute dogging, third in boys' goat tying and sixth in boys breakaway roping.

Billy Morian of Jasper placed second in ribbon roping, first in chute dogging, third in calf roping and fifth in boys' goat tying.

Matt Morian of Jasper placed seventh in boys breakaway roping.

Justin Lewis of Jasper placed second in bull riding.

Richard and A.J. Burch, both of Brookeland, finished fifth in team roping.
