Women explore spiritual issues The first bi-lingual, multicultural, non-denominational women's conference will be held this Saturday, March 31, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. at St. Michael's Catholic Parish Hall. Organizer Maria Luisa Edwards said many Jasper businesswomen and local churches have joined forces to present "Women's Spirituality and Our Role Today." Phyllis Speck of the First Presbyterian Church is the keynote speaker, after which the audience will break into smaller groups for discussion and presentations. A panel discussion on "Women's Strength by Faith" will feature Darlene Nolen, Liz McClurg, Heidi Meaux and Susan Stover. Dr. Willie Brown will speak on "Cultural Roles of a Spiritual Woman." Music will be provided by Glenda Cammack and Sue Gee. Lisa Ellerman of Community Church will give the closing prayer. Tickets are $12 at the door and include lunch catered by the Belle Jim Hotel.
