Friday was a night of errors against Silsbee.

The Jasper Lady Bulldog softball team lost 9-3 after a series of errors that began in the fifth inning.

The score was 2-1 going into the fifth when infield errors cost Jasper three additional runs. Jasper ended up with four total errors that gave Silsbee nine runs on five hits.

Shelby Griffin pitched all seven innings. She struck out one and walked two.

"Shelby did a real nice job for us," Coach Nancy Walker said. "The errors were costly."

Earlier in the week, they defeated Hardin-Jefferson 15-5. Jesse Cordova pitched a complete game, giving up four hits.

Jasper now has three wins and four losses in district play.

"Our best district game was against Orangefield," Walker said. "In the bottom of the seventh they hit to first. In the last play of the game, Orangefield hit the ball to left field. Stormie Shivers stopped the ball and threw it to Haley. Haley tagged the runner at the plate and then threw to third and Laura tagged the girl for the final out."

Jasper won that game 6- 3. Cordova was the winning pitcher.

The Lady Bulldogs played Kirbyville last night and will be at home Friday against Orangefield.
