Great weather ushers in beginning of motor season

Great weather and a fast track greeted racers as Motorama Speedway's gates swung open for the start of the 2007 racing season last Friday.

Two of last year's point champions, John O. Whittington, modified and Ernest Haynes mod stock, proved they were once again ready to meet all challengers as they took double wins in their respective classes. Top honors in the other four divisions were taken by: Bobby Fehring, limited modified; Jesse Farmer, outlaw stock; Britt Seaman, pure stock and Mason Baker, jr. mini stock.

Motorama Speedway is located on W. Hwy. 90 between Beaumont and China. The gates open every Friday at 5 p.m. with racing underway at 8 p.m.

Six classes race on a regular program with special events brought in each month. On April 6, the ASCS Sprints will campaign for regional and national points. That same night, before the race program gets underway, the annual Motorama Easter Egg Hunt will be held for young fans (toddlers thru 11 year olds).
