Walking the halls Welcome to another edition of "Walking the Halls" at Jasper Junior High School. Several events have occurred since the last time we walked the halls. These include the following: (1) Spanish class trip to a Spanish concert in Woodville; (2) career day - Mrs. Joyce Coleman was the keynote speaker during the assembly. A host of professionals from various career fields met with the students to acquaint them with their individual careers. In addition, each stressed the importance of staying in school and acquiring a good education; (3) cheerleader tryouts- Twenty-four young ladies competed to be selected as a cheerleader for the 2007-2008 school term; and (4) a much-needed spring break allowed both students and staff to relax both physically and mentally. Parents attended a parent orientation session on March 26 where they received firsthand information from the counselor and staff regarding the pre-registration process for the 2007-2008 school term and expectations and requirements for the courses. Information regarding the student assistance program was shared as well. As students begin the process of completing their course selection forms, parents are encouraged to be actively involved with their student in selecting his/her course choices and instructional levels, as schedules changes will not be permitted until the end of the semester. If parents have any questions regarding any of the information that was shared, they are asked to contact the academic counselor in the guidance office. In just two weeks, the students will be taking the TAKS tests, beginning April 16 and ending April 20. Students are asked to get plenty of rest and eat a healthful breakfast each day, so that they will have the stamina to do their best on each test during the week. Thanks for "walking the halls" with me one more time. |
