JHS talent show reaps $1,500+

The Smelly Cats dominated the Jasper High School Talent Show Friday night, March 30, but the real winner was the junior-senior prom fund which profited more than $1,500, according to Martha Morian, prom sponsor and talent organizer.

The Smelly Cats, a guitar and drums trio, performed original songs. Sharing the first place trophy David Cleveland-Hadley, Zach Riggins and Caleb Burrows.

Jessica Alvis took second for singing "Only Hope" from AWalk to Remember.

The band/comedy duo of Manuel Bryant and Liam O'Flarety took third place for "How to Compromise."

Autumn Shaver took home the People's Choice award for singing "Anyway" by Martina McBride.

The Golden Bone Award for the Jasper Independent School District staff went to the Parnell Ragtime Girls, Becca Dougharty and Reneisha Chambers playing a piano duet assisted by Martha Johnson, all teachers. The permanent trophy will remain at Parnell until the next talent show.
