TxDOT begins SH 63 improvements The state's transportation agency is improving more than three miles of SH 63 in Jasper County. The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) says the project includes overlaying the highway with new water and noise reduction asphalt. Beginning Tuesday, April 10, the project contractor will begin making repairs to the highway from U.S. 190 to FM 2799. Workers will remove the old road surface and overlay it with asphalt designed to reduce noise and water spray from large trucks and vehicles. Workers will also add three to four-foot shoulders along portions of the highway. Several bridges will also be extended during construction. TxDOT is reminding motorists to drive carefully through construction zones and expect possible delays. Jasper-based Mathews Construction Company, the project contractor, expects to complete the $4,237,462.47 project in July |
